Why use ring groups?

Ring groups can send incoming calls to different groups of extensions that your callers choose, like a sales team. The first available person takes the call. You can also use ring groups to differentiate types of calls by using different ring patterns.

How do I configure ring group cascade sequences?

  1. Open the FortiVoice management software to the Ring Groups page.
  2. Select the ring group you want to configure.
  3. In the Call Handling section, select an option from the pull-down menu for each tab; Busy, No Answer and Answered.
  4. Save settings to FortiVoice.

How many different ring patterns are there for ring groups?

Six.

IP phones from manufacturers other than FortiVoice may not be able to produce the same ring patterns. Try the patterns to see which work best in your environment.

  2. Select the ring group you want to adjust.

Can I send callers to voicemail when the ring group is busy or doesn't answer?

Yes. Configure the Call Cascade for the ring group.

  1. Open the FortiVoice management software to the Ring Groups page.
  2. Select the ring group.
  3. Under the Busy and No Answer tabs, select go to voicemail and specify the mailbox.
